Peter Sklar has helped A-listers like Sarah Jessica Parker, Reese Witherspoon and Mischa Barton along their paths to success.

On March 26, he's giving local kids the opportunity to make a move in the industry, when he comes to town to cast for his Broadway production Kid Who Played the Palace.

“I think it's a great opportunity for a whole bunch of kids and parents to find out what is available,” Gerry Gauvreau, who is brining Sklar to Sudbury, said.

It's a perfect way to recruit talent for the production, which is about kids from small towns wanting to make it in show business.

“It doesn't matter where you are from,” Gauvreau said. “What (industry professionals) care about is where you are going.”

While he's in town, Sklar will also be hosting a free workshop to tell families what they should expect from the industry.

“He's going to leave something behind for these kids,” Gauvreau said.

Children interested in being part of Sklar's production must be between the ages of seven and 18.

The free workshop takes place at the Jubilee Hall March 26 at 6:30 p.m. Reservations are required, and can be made by phoning 705-673-1184.
