Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir join hands with world-renowned figure skaters for this North American Tour

The Sudbury Community opened it's ice to a new team of skaters Friday, showcasing their talent as part of the North American tour, Rock the Rink.

The high-energy evening began with a musical performance by Birds of Bellwoods, who will be joining the skaters on their coast-to-coast road trip.

Olympic champion ice dancers Scott Moir and Tessa Virtue were joined by Canadian greats Patrick Chan, Kaetlyn Osmond and Elvis Stojko, in what has been declared their last tour as a professional pairing.

Joining them on the ice was Italian Olympic Medalist and World Champion, Carolina Kostner, Russian Olympic Gold Medalists and World Champions, Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov, and Olympic Medalist and four-time U.S. National Champion, Jeremy Abbott.

Sudbury.com photographer Marg Seregelyi was on location to capture the night's big moments.

The next performance of Rock the Rink will be hosted in Kingston Nov. 3.
