Today marks the last chance for fans of Sudbury-based Pistol George Warren to help the eight-piece collective claim Song of the Summer bragging rights.

Pistol George Warren has made it into the top 10 Song of the Summer contest presented by CBC Music. It's a vote-based competition, and the band is looking for help to claim the top prize — a guitar/amp package from Yamaha Canada.

Up against some “pretty tough competition,” said the band, is the song "High School Blues," which pits twangy rhythm guitars against a set of R&B soul sisters. It's one of a number of new songs on the band's latest EP, "Hoots Deuce", which takes the group’s Motown meets Nashville sound to a new, fuller, grittier level.

Released July 13, “Hoots Deuce” is the fourth official release from Pistol George Warren.

Voting for Song of the Summer ends at midnight tonight. Visit http://music.cbc.ca/#/Song-Of-The-Summer to cast your vote.
