It was a day of pizza and beer Saturday, as Stack Brewing held a party to mark its fourth anniversary.

Owner Shawn Mailloux said since he founded the brewery in 2013, he's held a party each year to thank Sudbury for supporting them. This year it was pizzageddon.

"Pizza and beer goes well together,” he said, when asked we they chose pizza this year. “We did tacogeddon last year, so we tried to take a different food, and invite people who specialize and enjoy doing that food item.

"Next year, I have no idea ... Shwarmageddon?"

While expansion plans Stack had brewing this year didn't pan out, Mailloux said things are looking up for the local business.

"We're doing fine," he said. "It's just a brief pause, a hiccup, in the expansion. Hopefully, next year we'll be able to release something a little more positive."

And they're gaining more exposure across the province since they're now being sold in LCBOs across the province.

“It's good in terms of getting recognition in other markets -- the market in Sudbury has always been good to us," he said.

"You do these events, it's a synergy, so when people go to the LCBO and hopefully purchase your product when they see it, because they've heard about the Stack events and they see you at festivals."

There was a good crowd already in the early afternoon Saturday at Stack's Kelly Lake Road location.

"People usually come out early evening, around supper time, but today people showed up early and it probably just get busier as the day goes on," Mailloux said.

"As you can see by the turnout already today, people love their local brewery.”

Local pizza makers we're also on hand, something they do every year depending on the food they choose for the party.

"So we also give other Northern Ontario business a chance to promote themselves, because a high tide floats all boats," he said."If I can help them, they can help me and hopefully we can succeed together."

"Thank you Sudbury and Northern Ontario for supporting us and hopefully we're doing a good job."
