Greater Sudbury Police Service's tactical unit will pay a special visit to sick children at Health Sciences North's pediatric unit on Halloween.

On Monday, Oct. 31, the police officers will rappel down the hospital's south and centre towers dressed as superheroes, and give the children a Halloween visit they won't forget.

The hospital invites the community to watch the superhero rappel from the hospital's main entrance at 11 a.m.

After the visit, the hospital will host a BBQ and will encourage donations to the NEO Kids Foundation.

Through a generous community donor, every dollar raised from Superheroes for Little Heroes, will be matched up to $25,000.

People who attend the event are also encouraged to dress up as their favourite superheroes.

“As a kid, being in the hospital is not easy, especially around a holiday,” said Patricia Mills, president of the NEO Kids Foundation, in a press release.

“Superheroes for Little Heroes will bring a day of fun and excitement to all the patients and staff at HSN, but especially to the children. What better time to do that than on Halloween, a holiday that is meant to be fun? With this event, every kid can feel like hero.”

Attendees can pay $10 to pay for a foot of rope that will allow the police officers to rappel down the building. After the event they get to keep their piece of rope as a souvenir.

Corporations and individuals also have the option to sponsor a superhero costume for $1,000 each.
