Professional wrestling and a comic con are returning to the Capreol Arena for Capreol Days August 4 and 5.
The events kick off with Pints and Pile Drivers featuring WWE Legend the Mountie Jacques Rougeau on Friday, August 4 beginning at 6:30 p.m.
With a professional wrestling career spanning over 40 years, Rougeau has many great stories to tell.
"He loves to engage with fans and is a brilliant storyteller," said David Knapman, president of Project X Wrestling.
"Fans of 80s and 90s wrestling will be in for a great evening which takes place inside the squared circle."
The excitement continues on Saturday, August 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the Capreol Comic Con under a new format called Capreol Geek X.
Admission to the Geek X is free with the purchase of a $5 souvenir Capreol Days button or wristband.
More than 35 vendors and exhibitors are participating in the show. Vendors will have collectibles, vintage toys, gaming, sports cards, horror themed memorabilia, Funko Pops, and more. There will also be pop culture and comic related artists, authors and artisans.
Geek X will include an interactive wrestlecon with autograph sessions and meet and greets with The Mountie, Impact Wrestling stars Sheldon Jean, Bhupinder Gujjar and El Reverso as well as Project X Wrestling stars including Canadian Heavyweight Champion Sudbury's own Magnum McLaren.
"We are excited to be working with the Capreol Days committee again this year to bring a new format to the comic con," said Robby Lavoie, president of Northern Screams Attractions.
"As a collector myself, we have developed a show that has a variety of vendors and more interactive activities such as cosplay, face painting, carnival games and treats and a board game cafe.”
The Geek X day concludes with the Project X Wrestling Capreol Cup live professional wrestling. The show will include matches featuring the top indie wrestling talent from across Ontario and the Capreol Cup Battle Royal. Bell time is 7 p.m.
VIP wrestling tickets are $35 and general admission floor tickets are $25. Pints and Pile Drivers tickets are $35. All wrestling event tickets can be purchased at Capreol Home Hardware and Foodland, Comics North in Downtown Sudbury and online at capreoldays.ca.
The full lineup for Capreol Days has yet to be released, but will also include a downtown party and a slo-pitch baseball tournament.
