Registration is now open for Sudbury Theatre Centre’s winter term of drama and musical theatre classes.
The nine-week winter term of classes begins Jan. 8, 2022, culminating in a recital to showcase the budding talents of these young performers.
“Academy classes are led by skilled instructors with extensive teaching backgrounds,” STC said in a news release. “Students are exposed to a wide range of games, exercises and experiences that are tailored to any skill level.”
STC also said besides helping performers brush up on their stage skills, the classes help “to develop their self-confidence and problem-solving skills and foster creative and critical thinking.”
Classes will run on Saturdays as follows:
- Discovery Drama: age 8 to 10 – 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
- Musical Theatre Discovery: age 8 to 10 – 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
- Musical Theatre Development: age 11+ – 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
- Development Drama: age 11+ – 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
“Classes will be held at STC in spaces that allow for appropriate physical distancing. Masks must be worn while inside the building,” STC said. “Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the building and in the washrooms, which will be cleaned between classes.”
While classes are being offered in person, that could change depending on public health directives. If changes force the cancellation of in-person activities, classes will be completed in an online format.
