Sudbury will host a consultation on recent breast cancer research Tuesday, April 25.

Sudbury will host a consultation on recent breast cancer research Tuesday, April 25.

Representatives of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Ontario Chapter, and its partners in the Up Front project, Willow Breast Cancer Resource and Support Services; the Canadian Breast Cancer Network; the Ontario Breast Screening Program; the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) Foundation; and PMH Breast Centre Women's Committee will share an interim report of research regarding findings of a public opinion survey of women who have never been diagnosed with breast cancer to determine their knowledge, attitudes, perceptions and beliefs.

The survey, for example, has found 38 percent of participants believe they are likely to be diagnosed with breast cancer. The reality is an estimated 12 percent of women will develop the disease by the time they are 80.

Through consultations in Ottawa, London, the GTA,  Sudbury and Timmins, Up Front aims to identify and create opportunities for improved co-ordination of care and information.

The presentation will take place  Tuesday, April 25 from  6.30 to 9.30 p.m. at Great Hall at Laurentian University.
