This Labour Day weekend, Ribfest Sudbury is back with a new location, but the same great flavour. From Sept. 2 to 4, you can enjoy a meat-stravaganza at Bell Park’s Grace Amphitheatre.
The festival features five professional rib teams, including one new team, The Silver Bullet (not related to the Sudbury food trucks), that Sudbury has never seen.
The event also hosts vendors serving up complimentary sides, desserts and drinks. You can expect your favourites from the last 12 years and some new ones too.
The festival runs 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Free parking at the three city lots on Paris Street adjacent to the park (one being the old hospital/Canada’s largest mural parking lot).
The event is once again working to raise money for local charities with a portion of proceeds going to support the YMCA Sudbury again this year but has added the Downtown Clean Up Program as a second charity.
Many of the non-rib vendors are local, including FreeWheelin Fries, Twisted Taters, Silver Water Syrups and La Fromagerie.
The weekend will be filled with live local musicians on stage at the Grave Hartman Amphitheatre starting at 5 p.m. on Friday until Sunday at 6 p.m. The headlining concert on Saturday at 8 p.m. will feature The AC/DC Show from down south.
Families are welcome the entire weekend as the event grounds are all-ages. and it is free admission for the entire weekend. There will be a kids’ section Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., featuring bouncy castles, obstacles and face painting.
There is a vendor village for the entire weekend featuring local artisans and more.
