The Motley Kitchen will be rocking June 2 as the latest Dinner & A Show Series offering brings the rootsy sound of Winnipeg’s Romi Mayes to the Nickel City.

With a country-blues sound and a four-piece band behind her, Mayes is on the road promoting her new album, Devil On Both Shoulders. This is her sixth full-length record. Mayes’ past albums have garnered three Western Canadian Music Awards for Songwriter of the Year, two Western Canadian Music Awards for Album of The Year, a Juno nomination for Album of the Year, and various other Canadian music award nominations.

Dinner and entertainment combined will cost $50 including HST. Seating for dinner is limited so reserve early. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the buffet dinner served at 6:30 p.m. If you want to skip dinner and just see the show, a pre-paid reservation will run you $20.

For reservations, drop by the Motley Kitchen (70 Young St.) during business hours (Monday- Friday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.) or call 705-222-6685.

Mayes is known for her powerful lyrical ability that gives life to the words she sings. Her insightful sweet and edgy vocals reveal heart-on-her-sleeve sincerity and a road well traveled.

For this show her band includes Jimmy Bowskill on lead guitar, who first played Jeff Healey’s club at age 11 and he was nominated for a Juno award at 14. He has toured with Jeff Beck and Joe Bonamassa.
