The organizers of this year’s Santa Claus Parade said at a Dec. 3 press conference that about 30,000 spectators turned out to catch a glimpse of the jolly fat man in red this year.

The Nov. 21 event was the 16th parade to kick off the Christmas season in Greater Sudbury.

Those who crafted the floats that helped inject that Christmas spirit into the city likely gain some satisfaction from the joy they helped spread. But Downtown Sudbury also hands out awards to the top-voted floats and performers who take part in the parade.
