Sudbury Theatre Centre has joined forces with 12 other theatres across Canada to honour firefighters and to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy.

Former Greater Sudbury police chief Alex McCauley and broadcaster Sherry Drysdale will perform in the The Guys by Anne Nelson, Monday, Sept. 11 at 8 pm.

The Guys tells the story of a New York City fire captain who loses eight men and who has been asked to say something at each of the eight's memorial services. He has no idea what to say but knows he will need help finding the words. He connects with a journalist, Joan, who has never done anything like this in her life, but who does not shy away from the challenge.

Sudbury's production is directed by Judi Straughan. Following the production, there will be a special musical performance.

Proceeds from this September 11th performance will be donated to the family of a local firefighter. Mike Squarzolo's three-year-old son, Jacob, has a rate auto immune neurological disorder.

Tickets for this one-time only special event are available at the Sudbury Theatre Centre for $10 per ticket. Phone 674-8381 extension 21 for tickets or information and reservations.
