Sudburians loving 'Hairspray,' so YES Theatre added more shows

Musical production a 'phenomenal success' in Sudbury

Due to high demand, YES Theatre has added four more shows for its production of “Hairspray.”

“Sudbury is loving and embracing 'Hairspray' and we couldn’t be more thrilled!” said producer JP Courtemanche.

“The actors, the creative team and the production crew have worked so hard to deliver this bigger than life, high energy and positive production; they truly deserve this phenomenal success!”

Based on the 1988 John Waters film, “Hairspray” follows the lovable optimist Tracy Turnblad (starring April Perrin) as she follows her dream, turning Baltimore upside down as she goes!

This eight-time Tony Award winner, including Best Musical, boasts big hair, bigger fun and some of the most toe-tapping good times around! Marking the first time that there has been 10 actors of colour represented on a Sudbury stage in a piece of this nature, “Hairspray” is a story about love and acceptance; one that embraces and celebrates the difference we all share.

The additional shows are 2 p.m. Aug. 20, 27 and 28 and 8 p.m. Aug. 28.

For the next 24 hours, tickets purchased in person for the Aug. 20 matinee at the STC box office are $30 for adults. Otherwise, tickets cost $40 for adults, $35 for seniors and $30 for students. Visit www.yestheatre.com to learn more.
