Planning is underway for Sudbury's first storytelling festival.

Centre franco-ontarien de folklore will host Festival de contes de Sudbury — a French-language event — Oct. 13-14 at Collège Boréal. Four storytellers will perform each evening.

On Oct. 13, the evening will be entitled "Nos Racines.” The second evening, "Nos Cultures," will be multicultural.

Also as part of the festival, La Slague is also putting on shows by Roger Dallaire and Daniel Gervais in Rayside-Balfour and Sudbury East Oct. 11 and 12.

Their performance will include both storytelling and music, making it a multidisciplinary and original show.

Further details will be revealed shortly.

This festival was made possible thanks to Ontario 150 and the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation.

The Centre franco-ontarien de folklore hopes to recruit the help of a few volunteers to perform various tasks during the festival.

Those wishing to offer assistance are asked to phone 705-675-8986 for further information.

The Centre franco-ontarien de folklore is a leader in heritage promotion and preservation. Its mission is to collect, preserve and enhance Franco-Ontarian oral heritage.
