School is out next week for summer holidays. After a few leisurely days, the kids will be complaining, "I'm bored." Here's a list of some of the activities planned for July and August which are designed for having fun and learning too.

Here's a list of some of the activities planned for July and August which are designed for having fun and learning too.


CAMP MANITOU: West of Whitefish Falls on North Channel, for boys and girls, July 1-8 for boys 12 and older, July 8-15 for boys eight to 12 years, July 15-22 for girls 12 and older and July 22-29 for girls eight to 11 years, 673-5885 or www.manitoucamp.org .

CAMP SOLEIL: For French-speaking youth, ages eight to 14 years, on Trout Lake near Alban, visit www.campsoleil.ca .

CAMP BITOBIG: Summer nature camp for children six to 12 years of age, Lake Laurentian Conservation Area, begins July 10, 674-5249.

SCIENCE NORTH SUMMER CAMPS: Science North is offering 13 exciting week-long science day camps for youngsters ages four to 15. From nature camp to multi-media camp, every child is sure to have a great time. Science North has been offering summer camp programs to children for 20 years, providing a great mix of hands-on science and great fun for youngsters. A variety of day camps will be offered this summer in English and French. Registering is easier than ever, now that on-line registration is available at: http://sciencenorth.ca/camps . Register for more than one camp and save! Save 10 percent on the second and subsequent camp registration. All camps run from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm. The price is $135 for Science North members and $150 for non-members. Take advantage of the campers' lunch program for $30 per week (taxes included).

DRAMA CAMP: Ages nine to 14, mime, improv, scene work, musical theatre, voice training, starts July 3 to July 14 for junior students; July 24 to Aug. 4 for seniors, at Sudbury School of Dance, $225 per child, 165 Pine St., from 9 am to 4 pm, 523-8444.

SKILLS CANADA CAMP: Summer day camp for students entering Grades 7 and 8, Industrial Training Centre, Cambrian College, $125, July 31 to Aug. 4, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, 1-888-228-5446, ext. 231.

GYMZONE GYMNASTICS: Register now for summer fitness and fun camp, children ages four and up, gymnastics, karate, swimming, outdoor play, 521-1551.

SUMMER DAY CAMP: From July 4, martial arts plus swimming, movies, gymnastics, games, Benoit's Martial Arts, Mondays to Fridays, 9 am to 4 pm, extended hours available, 522-4413.


SUMMER SOCCER: Register for July 3 to Aug. 11 MoreSoccer camps, week days, 9 am to 4 pm, St. Charles College soccer field, swimming at Nickel District pool in afternoons, 522-0158.
