As residents in Greater Sudbury continue to practice social distancing — some self isolating at home — the days can get monotonous.

There is only so much Netflix one can binge.

So Sudbury.com has put together a list of local virtual events and projects to keep adults busy and offer some welcome distraction from the COVID-19 pandemic.

If you're planning an online performance, class, presentation or other event in Greater Sudbury, send the details to [email protected] so we can spread the word.

ARCtivate 2020 – A Virtual at Home Movement Challenge

ARC Climbing Yoga Fitness will host its first ever Virtual Challenge, ARCtivate 2020 – At home edition.

Experts say it takes 40 days to change or create a new habit.

ARCtivate does just that by asking everyone who participates to get moving for at least 20 minutes daily for 40 days.

Through ARC's social media and YouTube channels, staff will host daily home workouts, yoga classes, and online workshops, in the hopes to help our community members create a new healthy habit, or get people moving and maintain their healthy lifestyles from home.

The fun begins April 5 and runs until May 14.

ARCtivate is free for current members and "pay what you can" for all other participants. Click here to register.

Film Festival

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic effectively shutting down the entertainment industry, Adric Cluff has created an online film festival dedicated to screening any and all independent movies submitted via my social media accounts.

The "In Quarantine Film Festival" will compised of "made at home films." So, how do you get involved?

  • Make a movie.
  • Shoot it with minimal cast, minimal crew, solo if possible.
  • Submissions will be rated based on the content of their story, not the glossiness of their presentation.
  • All skill levels, all experience levels.
  • Join the film festival, in cyberspace!

There are rules: No nudity, no politics, no religion.

The first screening weekend is scheduled for April 3 to April 5. For more information click here.
