The Taste of Sudbury Food and Drink Festival is back Jan. 16 for its third year, a chance to celebrate the best local food and drink vendors in Northern Ontario, all while supporting the Inner City Home of Sudbury

The event will take place at the Caruso Club, and proceeds from the event will go directly to Inner City Home’s emergency food bank, providing support to more than 1,500 people each month.

According to Food Banks Canada’s 2024 Hunger Count, in March there were more than two million visits to food banks in Canada — the highest number in history — representing a six per cent increase compared to 2023, and a 90 per cent increase compared to 2019.

Here in Sudbury, the Inner City Home has spoken to Sudbury.com previously about the rise in use after the pandemic, and the Sudbury Food Bank, which provides approximately 70 per cent of the Inner City Home’s food, has also spoken of shortages and a fear of not being able to serve all the need.

Taste of Sudbury features more than 30 Northern food and beverage vendors showcasing their unique culinary creations.

Guests will have the opportunity to sample and purchase products while enjoying live entertainment and the chance to win door prizes. Attendees will also get a chance to vote for the People’s Choice Awards, including Best Sample and Best Booth Design.

“This event is about much more than enjoying all the great food and drink vendors we have in Northern Ontario —it’s about coming together as a community to address food insecurity in Sudbury,” said Paula Morrow, co-host of Taste of Sudbury. “Every ticket sold and every vendor booth supports the vital services Inner City Home offers those in need.”

Tickets are $75 and can be purchased online at tasteofsudbury.ca or in person at Inner City Home, located at 251 Elm St.
