After several weeks of uncertainty, the Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario (TNO) team has announced that the public performances of Aéroportée will be postponed. The play was originally scheduled for Feb. 16 to 19.
The Francophone theatre company cited capacity limitations, as well as the need for ensuring that both the audience and the actors have the best experience possible, as reasons for the postponement.
Those who have already purchased tickets for the February performances will receive new tickets when the new dates are announced. If the new dates are not convenient, a refund may be issued.
Aéroportée is Miriam Cusson's translation and adaptation of Ever Falling Flight - a play written by Sudbury author Matthew Heiti. This English play will be presented at the Sudbury Theatre Centre this season.
Sudbury Theatre Centre describes the play as “a dark, comic fantasy tale inspired by the final, mysterious flight of Amelia Earhart and her famous 1937 record-breaking round-the-world trip. Dashing through increasingly strange ports-of-call the famous pilot races against time and the spectre of a demonic red plane.”
A release from TNO also noted their excitement about their upcoming move into Place des Arts, as well as the chance to purchase the red benches from the theatre company’s previous performance space.
“It will soon be time to say goodbye to our old offices and our iconic black box that gave us so many great moments with you,” states a press release from the organization. “To immortalize these magical moments, we are offering you the opportunity to purchase the red benches from our old performance space. Write to us to place your vintage bench order!”
