The executive members of the Jubilee Folk Ensemble advisory board said thanks and goodbye to their president recently.

"Ron Tough who has performed with the orchestra, has been an outstanding member who has made a significant contribution to the ensemble and Sudbury's cultural life," says the chair of the Association of United Ukrainian Canadians (AUUC) cultural committee and conductor of the ensemble, Oryst Sawchuk.

"Ron is a celebrated as vocalist, actor, playwright,  masters of ceremonies, and founding chair of the Jubilee Folk Ensemble advisory board."

The Jubilee Folk Ensemble, under the auspices of the AUUC, while acknowledging its Ukrainian cultural beginnings, is dedicated to performing music rooted in the folk music traditions from around the world and reflecting the rich cultural diversity of Sudbury, says Sawchuk.

Dr. Brian Lynch will replace Tough as president of the advisory board.

In thanking Tough for his work on behalf of the ensemble, he joked about how the two share Celtic roots.

Lynch, a talent musician, was one of the organizers of last fall's tsunami relief fundraiser at The Sudbury Arena.

The Jubilee Folk Ensemble is currently taking requests to play at community events for the 2006/07 season. For more information, phone 674-3590.
