Video: This Sudbury YouTuber takes R/C vehicles to the next level

Dallas Sullivan builds custom radio-controlled 4x4s

For Dallas Sullivan, being a radio-controlled car enthusiast is about more than just playing with toy vehicles.

Sullivan takes stock R/C kits to the next level with custom parts, paint and accessories — most of which he makes by hand in his workshop.

If that's not cool enough, Sullivan then films his modified wheels outside using strategic camera angles that make the vehicles more life-like.

"I'm a big kid," Sullivan said. "There's guys that want to run really fast (vehicles), but I'm more about the slow four-wheel drive (vehicles).

"Climbing up rocks and being in Sudbury is kind of perfect."

Since launching his YouTube channel, DirelectRC in 2013, Sullivan has uploaded hundreds of videos of his scale vehicles crawling up rocky terrain, bogging in the mud and digging through the snow.

"It's a lot of fun and I'm glad people like my videos"

Check out the video above to see some of Sullivan's favourite mods in action.
