Trails at the Walden Cross Country Ski Club will be closed to the public this weekend, as the club will host the Cross Country Ontario Cup.

"Despite less than favourable conditions, the Ontario Cup Organizing Committee still plans to host a fantastic event this weekend," said a news release from Walden XC. "Trails will be closed to members and the public Friday, Jan. 19 to Sunday, Jan. 21, but everyone is encouraged to come out and watch some high calibre ski racing."

There will be no parking available at the club, and parking is prohibited on Denis Avenue and adjoining residential streets. Drop offs are permitted, but those planning to attend are asked to park in the overflow lot at Penguin Research across the highway, or at the Naughton Community Centre.

Beaver Lake remains closed because of poor snow conditions, but if the city gets snowed in over the coming days, members and the public are encouraged to ski there instead.

Stay tuned to the Walden XC website for trail conditions updates.

The schedule and all other event related information can be found at www.waldenxc.ca/ontario-cup.
