This Saturday is your chance to support the Northern Initiative for Social Action (NISA) by attending the 9th Annual Sudbury Defeat Depression walk/run event, beginning at 9:30 at the Grace Hartman Amphitheatre.

Attendees will not only get to cheer on the racers but also hear from guest speakers, including Ryan Benoit, owner of Positive Inception, and to cheer on participants once the walk/run commences.

So far, the 25 teams have raised over $50,000 with proceeds going to support NISA.

NISA stated in a press release that over the last two years, they have seen a significant increase in the need for mental health services with the ongoing pandemic.

Proceeds from this fundraiser will help NISA to continue to expand community reach during these difficult times, as well as to ensure that they provide quality programs and services for their members and the Greater Sudbury community.

Defeat Depression, an initiative of Mood Disorders Society of Canada, is a national mental health fundraising campaign that provides funds for local community health organizations and hope for people affected by depression and other mood disorders.
