Theatre Cambrian has announced it is putting out two productions in early 2020.

The company's dinner theatre series has long been a staple of its yearly programming.

Theatre Cambrian said it looks forward to continuing this strong tradition of delicious meals and hilarious comedies with its next production, “Murder at the Howard Johnson's,” coming to the stage Jan. 9-12.

It's presented at, and catered by the Italian Club in Copper Cliff. Guests are treated to a delicious meal and fantastic show, all for one price.

New this year, Theatre Cambrian offers a Sunday matinee performance with a lunch buffet and reduced ticket price — perfect for seniors.

Is all fair in love? Even murder? That's the question posed by this light and suspense comedy about a love triangle in a Howard Johnson Motor Inn. The play presents a love triangle involving a woman, her lover, and her husband in three scenes.

In the first scene, the wife and her lover plot to murder the husband. In the second scene, the wife and her husband are plotting to murder the lover. The third scene has the husband and the lover plotting to murder the wife, but this attempt, like the others, fails.

Next up is the musical “Annie,” which runs Feb. 6-16 in partnership with Sudbury Theatre Centre.

“As we look to the future of our organization, we can only hope to thrive through mutually beneficial partnerships with other arts organizations,” said a press release.

“Although we have rented the space in the past for our performances, our new partnership will see the professionals of the Sudbury Theatre Centre work hand-in-hand with our volunteers to craft a production that will no doubt be the talk of the town!”

"Annie" is the perfect family-friendly musical, said the press release.

With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone's heart despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City.

She is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage that is run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan. With the help of the other girls in the Orphanage, Annie escapes to the wondrous world of NYC. In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan's evil machinations, and even befriends President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

She finds a new home and family in billionaire, Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.

Theatre Cambrian offers a variety of show times and pricing options designed to ensure every member of the family can come out and enjoy the show, without missing their bedtime.

“Theatre Cambrian strives to continue to offer a variety of crowd-pleasing theatrical offerings with a renewed dedication to directly supporting the artistic community of Greater Sudbury by investing in our artistic partners,” said Derek Young, Theatre Cambrian president.

“We have begun exploring relationships with both the Sudbury Theatre Centre and the Sudbury Secondary School Performing Arts Program. These partnerships will see the respective organizations will help in mounting high quality community theatre productions to enhance Greater Sudbury’s artistic landscape.

“All this to say, keep an eye on Theatre Cambrian’s Facebook page and website to make sure you don’t miss out!
