What's happening at River & Sky? Our freelance writer Ella Myers checks in from the festival

Still time to head out if you're a last-minute kinda person, she says

With no rain forecast for the remainder of the festival and a full lineup of musical performances, outdoor activities, and tasty treats (wood-fired pizza or vegan tacos anyone?), there’s still time to drive out to Field and enjoy River and Sky’s tenth edition.

Saturday’s performances include an afternoon at the beach with Magic Pelvis, Skin Condition (this reporter’s favourite band), Tallies, and Anemone. The evening will feature Bernice, Michael Rault, Twist, and Chad VanGaalen at the mainstage, followed  by late-night beach performances by Nuisance and Operators. The evening will finish (and run into tomorrow) with the all night dance party with DJ New Chance.

If you can’t make it out to River and Sky, make sure to check out this playlist featuring performers from the weekend.

So far the weekend has seen more than 1,000 people gather at Fishers’ Paradise in Field, Ont. to enjoy everything the festival has to offer. Along with the musical performances there are workshops all day on topics including yoga, herbal foraging, shelter making, and astronomy.

There will be workshops Sunday morning too, with more yoga, a kids parade (and kids 16 and under attend free!), parkour, pollinator stewardship, and bike maintenance.

The saunas remain one of the most popular parts of the festival, and they’re situated right next to the cool, flowing river.

There’s a fire ban in effect in Field as forest fires continue to burn throughout the region, so campers are being extra careful with any flammable materials and there’s no bonfire this year.

Despite the dry and dusty conditions, the nights cool right down and the bugs go to sleep fairly quickly, making for a beautifully bug-free night for the most part.

Volunteers are working hard to keep the festival going, taking care of everything from pizza-making, to trash pick-up to operating the gates.

River and Sky is committed to maintaining a safe space for all attendees, which means there is no violence tolerated - whether physical, emotional, or sexual.
