Where there's Smoke's, there's poutine

Poutine franchise opens its doors in downtown Sudbury

The long wait is over, poutine aficionados. Smoke's Poutinerie officially opened their doors to the public at their downtown Sudbury location at the Rainbow Centre Mall on Jan. 13.

There was quite a bit of hype when the franchise with more than 120 locations across Canada announced that they'd be opening a pair of locations in the Nickel City.

When the city's first location opened on-campus at Laurentian University, a story posted on Sudbury.com garnered 4,000 shares and 110 comments.

The downtown location opened its doors to the public Friday morning, and employees were greeted with a massive rush of eager customers.

Perhaps Smoke's will have to be included in Sudbury.com's next Tour de Poutine and attempt to dethrone Leslie's, who currently own the title of "Sudbury's best poutine".

The Elm Street location is open until 4 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Did you get a chance to stop by Smoke's today? How did they stack up against Sudbury's other poutine purveyors? Let us know in the comments section below.
