The region was hit by a powerful summer storm Saturday night, which created quite a mess for residents in many parts of the city.
For Gerry La Rocque in Azilda, it also created a bit of a mystery.
He woke up Sunday morning to find his backyard strewn with willow branches, some appeared to be cut brush, while others looked to have been snapped off by the wind. One branch was heavy enough and propelled with enough force that it tore through the roof of his gazebo.
The wind was so strong it snapped his clothes line pole at the base, LaRocque said.
Here’s the thing though: LaRocque said neither he, nor any of his neighbours, have willow trees on their property. He figures the powerful storm winds carried the branches a long way to deposit them in his yard.
What a storm.
