Do you have a child aged seven to 12 who's interested in yoga? Jennifer Dodd, a local certified yoga teacher, has started a “little yogi” class for the junior set.

She's running a four-week, 45-minute-long pilot class on Thursday evenings at the Walden Day Care. The first class takes place tomorrow evening starting at 6:30 p.m. If there's enough interest, she'll add another class a bit later in the evening.

Dodd said she decided to start the kids' class because she's been teaching her young daughter, Avianna, yoga, and it's helped with the child's ADHD.

She said she loves working with kids.

“I'm like a kid at heart,” she said.

Dodd said she'll teach the class in an age-appropriate way, incorporating stories and songs. Physically, kids are quite able to do yoga poses, as they're very flexible, but Dodd said she'll start out slow.

“If you start instilling those things young in life, they're going to create a habit and something really good for themselves,” she said.

The four weeks of classes cost $44. For more information, visit the Facebook page for the yoga classes or contact Dodd on her personal Facebook page.
