Zulich, Harasymchuk dance their way to the top at Dancing with Easter Seals Stars

Pair claims mirror-ball trophy at annual fundraiser

After months of practice, Julie Zulich and her professional partner Dennis Harasymchuk were crowned champion on Feb. 22 at the conclusion of Dancing with Easter Seals Stars.

Their crowd-pleasing performance earned them the mirror-ball trophy.

Second place went to Marissa Arnold, from RE/MAX Crown Realty, and her professional partner, Bayani Maristella, from Jan Fregonese Dance School.

Third place went to Alex Hindmarch, from Rewind 103.9, and his professional partner Zoi Monroy, from Zoi Monroy Dance Studio.

Zulich, of Tesc Contracting Company Inc., and Harasymchuk were also named the top fundraiser, bringing in $13,205

Marissa Arnold and Bayani Maristella were second top fundraisers with $10,035, while Alex Hindmarch and Zoi Monroy raised $6,477 and Mel Morin and Paul Comacchio raised $4,020.

Joanne Bowers, development officer for Easter Seals, said she was pleased with the amount raised of $80,000.

“The performances again this year were spectacular,” she said. “The success resulting from the hard work and effort by the dancers, organizing committee, staff and volunteers is a big win for the organization. Thank you to all involved as well as to all our sponsors and audience.

“I would also like to thank our special guest performers Colette Lance and the Latin Dance Fusion Performance Group and the senior competitive dancers from Dance Evolution, whose performances were outstanding.”

Proceeds from the event help provide funding for essential mobility equipment such as walkers, wheelchairs, porch lifts and ramps, as well as communication devices to families who require additional help and support in raising a child with a physical disability. They also provide opportunities for kids to experience a stay at one of our fully accessible summer camps, Camp Woodeden in London, ON or Camp Merrywood near Perth, ON.
