The third Ontario Library Service - North (OLS) Ontario "Lit" Awards conference will be held on May 7 at the Radisson Hotel in downtown Sudbury. The awards recognize northern Ontario authors who make contributions to culture of the north.

Motivational speaker and author Betty Boult will be in Sudbury on May 21 to speak to students, parents, families and members of the educational sector about her  book, "176 Ways to Involve Parents.

On Saturday, May 24, Sudbury's largest yard sale will take place in the downtown core. The event, held in support of the United Way, is a venue for buying and selling hundreds of items.

On May 10, the Sudbury Catholic District School Board will auction off shop and gym equipment, desks, chairs, filing cabinets, appliances, audio/video equipment and more. The auction will take place at St. Remi School at 95 Estelle St. in Sudbury.

Many local residents get excited this time of year as they anticipate going to the Sudbury Regional Historica Heritage Fair. The public is invited to attend the opening event on Thursday, May 1 at Laurentian University's Fraser Auditorium.
