Cambrian College offers new one-year professional accounting program

Cambrian College is launching a dynamic new program that really adds up for those who want to start or further a career in accounting.

Beginning in September of 2022, Cambrian is offering a new Professional Accounting Practice graduate certificate program for students who already have an Ontario degree program or equivalent.

The program is three semesters in length and can be completed in one year. All the courses in the program are also recognized by the Chartered Professional Accountants Association of Ontario.

This allows students of the program to apply their graduate certificate towards their designation as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).

Professional Accounting Practice covers a wide range of topics including financial accounting, management accounting, auditing and assurance, taxation, and business law.

“We’ve designed the curriculum to do a couple of things: ensure students have a broad range of knowledge so they are career-ready, and ensure all courses in the program provide students with one of the quickest routes available to a CPA designation,” says Brian Lobban, Dean of Cambrian’s School of Business.

“We have also built a lot of flexibility into the program to accommodate those already working in the field, so the program has full-time and part-time options. Plus, we have new intakes of students in the fall, winter, and spring semesters.”
