12 Days of Kindness: Kids' bedroom makeover makes single mom's year

Sudbury.com’s 12 Days of Kindness wraps up with an emotional surprise for a hard-working mom and her two young boys

There are many reasons why Christmas can be a tough time of year.

We live in a materialistic world and it's probably never more obvious than at Christmas.

On the last day of this year’s 12 Days of Kindness, we look at the reality of being a single parent working to provide for their kids.

Shannon Denault’s family has been through some hard times this year. She and her two young boys were recently uprooted and are just getting settled in new surroundings.

Shannon’s mom wrote to us in hopes of helping her daughter and her grandsons get a fresh start.

So, while Shannon is at work and her sons are at school, we are going into their home to give each of the boys' bedrooms a makeover.

Thank you to Ashley HomeStore North and the anonymous donator for giving this deserving family a fresh start.

Ashley HomeStore’s Hope To Dream program helps children get the restful sleep they deserve by providing mattress sets and bedding to children. For more information about the program, click here.

Throughout our second annual 12 Days of Kindness, we’ve heard stories of incredible selfless giving. Kindness really is contagious and we hope it keeps spreading.

We received hundreds of nominations and we’ll be back in January with more acts of kindness.

Until then, you can enjoy all of our past Acts of Kindness, including the 12 Days of Kindness, by visiting Sudbury.com/aok.
