The India-Canada Association of Sudbury holds a celebration of the 150th birthday of Mahatma Gandhi Oct. 2.
The event takes place in the foyer of the J.N. Desmarais Library at Laurentian University, where there's a statue of Gandhi, from 6-7 p.m. All are welcome.
Gandhi, who was born in 1869 and died in 1948, was an Indian lawyer, anti-colonial nationalist, and political ethicist who employed non-violent resistance to lead the successful campaign for India's independence from British rule, and in turn inspire movements for civil rights and freedom across the world.
