Greater Sudbury is asking residents to take part in a '20-minute yard makeover' April 26.

In addition to cleaning their own yards, Sudburians are being asked to pick up litter from nearby public land.

“This includes sidewalks, roadside fronting of your business or residence,” the city said in a news release Wednesday. “Place collected trash in your commercial garbage bin or residential garbage bags to be placed at the curb on your next waste collection day.”

Businesses who register and provide the before, during and after photographs of their cleanup efforts will have a chance to win a one-year recycling collection service from the city's waste management, the release said. Residents who do the same will have an opportunity to win a big blue residential recycling curbside container.

Register at any citizen service centre, public library or visit GreaterSudbury.ca/cleanup to download a registration form.

All participants will be asked to review safety guidelines and sign a waiver. The registration deadline is April 23.
