The man who died in a workplace accident at Rainbow Concrete Feb. 15 has been identified by another local media outlet as 39-year-old Rheal Dionne.

He was driving a dump truck at the local business at the time of his death.

Details of how he died, as well as the man's identity, have not been released by either Rainbow Concrete or the Ministry of Labour.

However, Dionne's father, Julien Dionne, reportedly told another media outlet it was his son that died in the accident.

He said his son had driven the truck under an arch at the entrance to Rainbow Concrete property, and a piece of the arch was dislodged, crashing down on the man and crushing him.

An obituary for Rheal Dionne has not been released, although funeral service details have been published on the Co-operative Funeral Home website.

The visitation takes place from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Feb. 26 at the Co-operative Funeral Home on Lasalle Boulevard. The funeral takes place at 10 a.m. Feb. 27 at St-Jean-de-Brebeuf Church on Kathleen Street.

According to the funeral home's website, Dionne turned 39 on Feb. 3, just days before his death. It has been reported that Dionne was the father to a seven-year-old boy, Noah.

His Facebook page displays photos of the boy, his wedding to Jessica Lapointe-Dionne and of his dogs, a German Shepherd and a chihuahua. The page lists him as a cement truck driver at Rainbow Concrete.

Many people posted notes of condolence on the funeral home's website, as well as his Facebook page and those of his family members.

“We had some fun times in high school Rheal,” wrote one man, only identified as Paul, on the funeral home's website. “Your buddies will always remember you. Our sincerest condolences to your family.”

The workplace fatality is under investigation by the Ministry of Labour and Rainbow Concrete.

Rainbow Concrete is under a Ministry of Labour order to not place material that could tip, collapse or fall, a stop work order until the aforementioned order has been complied with, and a requirement for documentation.
