On behalf of Carman Construction, Dean Fielding and his son Alex Fielding have provided a donation of $50,000 to help the sustainability of the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario during COVID-19.

When asked why Dean and his son chose to make this significant contribution, Dean said “The Y is an essential part of Northern Ontario, as it is there to assist northerners, including those in

recovery from various health issues. We are proud to be able to add this support during these

challenging times.”

“The financial support from Dean and the team at Carman Construction, is tremendous,” said

Helen Francis, President and CEO of the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario, in a press release.

“As a result of COVID-19 we have seen a revenue drop of over 45 per cent. With an ongoing need to pay bills to keep our facilities open to support vulnerable populations now and to ensure we can reopen to our members and the community in the future, these dollars will go a long way in covering our occupancy costs at the YMCA Durham Street location in Sudbury, for the period that our operations are restricted because of the pandemic. “

The YMCA has played an important role in building healthy communities for over 160 years, it is

anticipated that this role will be increasingly important as our community navigates COVID-19

and the recovery that will be required afterwards.

Having community members and companies who are willing to step up and support a charity and non-profit in this way is both critical and inspiring, said the press release.
