Steelworkersandapos; officials cite the companyÂ?s refusal to improve early retirement pension benefits, and IncoÂ?s demand for concessions, including heath care benefits to 10,000 retirees and their survivors, as the reason the talks broke down.

Â?This company can afford to meet its responsibilities for an aging workforce, and to maintain a decent early retirement package,Â? said Local 6500 president John Fera in a press release issued late yesterday afternoon.
