The Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce is hosting David Zimmer, Ontario's minister of Aboriginal Affairs, on June 16 as part of its presidential luncheon series.

Zimmer will speak about the importance of reconciliation and how economic development and consultation play an important role, a news release from the chamber said.

He will also highlight why working together with indigenous businesses can benefit everyone and he'll discuss Ontario's commitment to investing in Indigenous economic development.

Zimmer, the MPP for Willowdale since 2007, has held the Aboriginal Affairs portfolio since 2013.

Prior to that, he was parliamentary assistant to the minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, the minister of Aboriginal Affairs and the Attorney General.

Before entering politics, Zimmer was chair of the Toronto Community Housing Corporation, Canada's largest community housing provider and the second-largest in North America. He practised law for many years in Toronto and has served as a part-time Crown attorney.

For 10 years, Zimmer was an administrative law instructor in the Law Society's Bar admission course.
