Acts of Kindness: He has breast cancer, watch as McDougall Energy helps us lift his spirits

Sudbury.com kicks-off a new year of Acts of Kindness with a heart-warmer

There is a four-letter word that strikes fear into the hearts of all women - that word is "lump."

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among Canadian women, but the disease can affect men as well. Less than 1 per cent of all breast cancers occur in men and although it is rare, it’s a serious concern.

It was back in October when Lonny Newland discovered a lump in his left breast. Shortly after, it was confirmed to be cancerous. He began chemotherapy and on Jan. 30, Lonny had surgery to remove what was left of the tumour.

Watch as we surprised Lonny at his home the day before his surgery to lift his spirits and some of the family's financial stress.

We'd like to thank McDougall Energy for their generosity and helping us pull off this heart-warming act of kindness.
