Acts of Kindness: This is our biggest surprise so far this year

Illness forced this husband and father to stop working. With the help of three Sudbury businesses, we give a little something back

Mike Amyotte was the main provider for his family until nearly four years ago when their lives were turned upside down. Mike woke up one morning with limited mobility on the right side of his body.

Eventually, he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of multiple sclerosis, which affects his vision, right leg, arm and hand. With limited mobility, he had to stop working and his family had to make financial sacrifices to make ends meet.

But despite it all, his wife Angel says Mike remains positive.

The couple travels to Ottawa once a month to take part in a clinical trial in hopes of finding a cure not only for himself but also for others suffering from MS.

Angel reached out to Sudbury.com with a simple wish; she wanted us to give her husband just one good day. We thought we'd do her one better.

Watch as we sneak into the Amyotte house with some partners in kindness to deliver Sudbury.com's biggest Act Of Kindness so far this year.

We'd like to thank Pierre Huneault and Angela Vitiello from Wolseley Canada Inc., Rick and Line Loiselle from Rolly's Heating and Air Conditioning, as well Goodman Air Conditioning & Heating for going above and beyond for this local family. This AOK couldn't have happened without them.

Thanks to their generosity, Mike and his family will now be more comfortable in their home during the hot summer months. Watch the video to find out how.

12 Days of Kindness

Christmas is just around the corner and Sudbury.com is excited to bring back our 12 Days of Kindness campaign, beginning in December.

For 12 days leading up Christmas, Sudbury.com will head out to surprise a deserving person, family or organization with a special act of kindness.

But to do that, we need your help. For more information on how you can sponsor a recipient or if know someone who is deserving of an act of kindness, visit Sudbury.com/aok to find out how you can help share a little love in our community.
