Patricia Delyea, executive director at Rockhaven, and Steve Williams, Beyond The Rock resident, relax in the kitchen area of the new transitional home called Beyond The Rock.
Located at 396 Brady St., the facility was purchased in January 2008 and is adjacent to the main Rockhaven facility. The building was renovated, with the help of local businesses and volunteers. It began housing residents in August 2008.
Beyond The Rock provides continued support, a safe environment and an affordable housing option for clients who have successfully developed their recovery program at Rockhaven.
Rockhaven houses 18 clients and Beyond The Rock houses six. The United Way has approved a grant of $13,000 over a three year period, starting this year, for operational costs, and the Trillium Foundation has approved a grant of $60,000 over the next two years for staffing.
Financial contributions were received from the City of Greater Sudbury and the North East Local Health Integrated Network for a one time grant to be put towards the mortgage.
Rockhaven is a non-profit organization offering supportive housing for men over the age of 16 who are committed to recovering from addictions abuse. For more information phone 675-1179 or go to www.rockhavenrecovery.ca .
