Students and staff from Chelmsford’s École Alliance St-Joseph raised $13,5000 for the Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer (NOFCC) June 9.

NOFCC helps Northern Ontario families, living with a child diagnosed with cancer, with their immediate financial needs and offers them educational and emotional support.

A sun-filled, fun-filled day of activities gave way to the fundraising event, with plenty of students shedding their locks and donating their hair for the creation of wigs for people who lost their hair after chemotherapy treatments.

Students from College Boreal's hairdressing program shaved the heads of 40 students, six staff members and three members of the community. More than a dozen other students got their hair cut.

Other activities included a walkathon, a visit from Greater Sudbury Fire Services, Best Start Hub workshops and story time, a treasure hunt, amazing races, a tug-of-war and a family barbecue.
