And The Ultimate Dream Home winners are...

Mark Lafrenière of Garson is this year's grand prize winner

Mark Lafrenière of Garson just won himself the Ultimate Dream Home!

The Canadian Hard of Hearing Association (CHAA) draw took place at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the dream home located at 616 Arnold Street.

Lafrenière won the grand prize, a beautiful new home built by SLV Homes, over $55,000 in furnishings and decorations plus a new Hyundai Elantra in the garage. Lafrenière, who wasn't present for the draw, will have the option to keep the home, furnishings and the car or take the $400,000 cash option and keep the furniture and car.

CHHA executive director Kim Scott said a record-breaking 78,000 tickets were sold for this year's draw.

"Without this campaign, without the support of everybody in the community," Scott said. "Hundreds of thousands of people that we've helped over the years would go without service or support."

A new addition to the draw this year was the Ultimate 50/50 Extra raffle. Heather Bryston was the lucky winner and received the cash jackpot payout of $76,235.

Funds raised by the Ultimate Dream Home and the Ultimate 50/50 Extra draws stay right here in North Eastern Ontario.

The Ultimate Dream Home is organized and run by people who have a hearing loss themselves and since the branch does not receive any government funding, funds raised by the Ultimate Dream Home campaign ensure programs and supports continue to be provided to people with hearing loss.
