A Chelmsford couple had more than their anniversary to celebrate last week. They won the Kinsmen Home Sweet Home Sweepstakes.

Lianne and Martin Vaillancourt won the $300,000 house in the city?s South End.

The couple, parents to a two year-old and an eight month-old, were out celebrating their anniversary June 10 when they decided to take a quick look at the house. Since it was their anniversary, they decided to buy one ticket, just in case. The draw took place two days later.

?I?m still in shock,? says Lianne Vaillancourt. ?It doesn?t feel real right now.?

Husband Martin met Lianne in their driveway Sunday night to give her the good news.

?I didn?t believe him at first,? says Lianne. ?I even called the Kinsmen Club back to confirm, because it didn?t feel real. I mean how many times do you buy a ticket for something, like the lottery and not win.?

They haven?t decided whether to keep the house or sell it.

?The downside of the house?s location is that Martin works 12-hour shifts in the Inco mines in Levack,? says Lianne. ?He would have to drive an extra hour each way to get to and from work. It might be too much for him and for us.?

The Kinsmen Club of Walden?s Home Sweet Home Sweepstakes managed to sell out at the last minute.
