The Sudbury Rocks!!! Race, Run or Walk for Diabetes, the largest running event in Northern Ontario, takes place on Sunday — coinciding with Mothers Day.

Greater Sudbury Police are notifying the public of lane closures due to the Sudbury Rocks!!! event.

All events will be held that day from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The following streets will be affected: Elgin Street, Notre Dame Avenue, Lasalle Boulevard, Attlee Avenue, Gemmell Street, Falconbridge Road, Second Avenue, Bancroft Drive and Howey Drive.

“During this time, the above mentioned streets will be filled with several hundred runners, marshals and logistical volunteers,” said a press release.

“Various lanes of traffic will be sectioned off with traffic pylons, and police personnel will be stationed along the route to direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

“Delays and inconveniences are expected to be minimal. However, motorists are asked to be mindful of the marathon participants and other users of these roadways on Sunday morning.

“Please be extra vigilant with your speed and attention to traffic signals and officers directing traffic at effected intersections.”
