Power has been restored to all 973 homes affected by this afternoon's outage, said Sudbury Hydro in their latest press release.

The outage is believed to have been a result of the lightning that swept through the area.

Anyone still without power is asked to contact 705-675-7536.

Original Story

Around 1:30 p.m. this afternoon, Sudbury Hydro reported that a power outage was affecting the Kingsway and Barrydowne intersection, including a number of stores within the area, and portions of the Donovan.

Power was restored to the New Sudbury area around 2:20 p.m. this afternoon, excluding Chapters, which is managing an internal equipment issue.

There are still 973 customers in the Donovan without power.

Greater Sudbury Police have reported a branch interfering with a power line, which Sudbury Hydro suggests tripped a breaker, causing the outage.

Sudbury Hydro is on route to the disturbance, but won't likely be able to restore power until 4:30 p.m. this evening.
