Updated Dec. 9 at 3:45 p.m.: Environment Canada has advised that the winter weather travel advisory for Greater Sudbury and area has now ended.

A winter weather travel advisory is in effect for the Greater Sudbury area for tonight through Monday.

The advisory, issued by Environment Canada at 11:34 a.m., and cautions of snow, heavy at times, with accumulations of five to 10 centimetres.

“Snow is expected to begin late tonight,” they note. “The heaviest snowfall is expected Monday morning. Snow will taper in intensity by Monday evening.”

Motorists can expect hazardous winter driving conditions, with Environment Canada urging people to adjust their travel plans.

“Slow down driving in slippery conditions. Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance,” they note. “If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.”
