An early morning apartment fire on June 4 has left two people displaced, said Greater Sudbury Fire Services.

Firefighters were called to a five-unit apartment complex on Bessie Avenue at about 3:56 a.m.

Damage is listed at $10,000 with moderate fire damage and severe smoke damage.

No one was injured.

In its safety message, Greater Sudbury Fire Services says candles are a common cause of home fires.

“Keep lit candles away from children and pets, and blow out all candles before leaving the room. Secure candles in a sturdy holder in a location where they can't be knocked over. Fires caused by candles are easily preventable.”
