Penman Park Neighbourhood Association has applied for financial assistance under the City of Greater Sudbury’s Healthy Community Initiative (HCI) Fund to construct a permanent outdoor ice pad to serve residents of Garson.

Plans for the project include a permanent concrete pad enclosed by rink boards, outdoor pole lights for illumination and a water hook-up to flood the ice.

Penman Park currently has an informal ice rink. The rink is created on a grassy area using a water truck. There are neither rink boards nor outdoor lights.

The cost of the proposed permanent ice pad is more than $100,000 and would be completed in two phases. The Penman Park Neighbourhood Association is fundraising and seeking donations in-kind to support this initiative.

Residents are invited to complete a questionnaire at overtoyou.greatersudbury.ca.
