If you're travelling south today, you're going to run into snow squalls along the Highway 400 corridor.

Environment Canada has issued a snow squall warning for the Barrie - Collingwood – Hillsdale, Midland - Coldwater - Orr Lake, Orillia and Lagoon City – Washago areas.

Snow squalls will continue in these areas into Saturday.

The strongest snow squall currently extends from Singhampton to Angus. Snowfall rates under this squall may exceed five centimetres per hour at times.

Total snowfall amounts in excess of 50 centimetres by this evening are possible.

Travel will be hazardous at times, and motorists are advised to change their travel plans accordingly, said the advisory. Local whiteout conditions may occur.

If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.

There is currently no snow squall warning in the Parry Sound area, although there are currently flurries reported in this area.

The OPP is reporting numerous road closures in Central Ontario. You can check out that list in the tweet below.
