In accordance with a bylaw permitting ATVs on city roads for a two-year trial period, as of April 1, the vehicles are allowed to drive on most public roads in Greater Sudbury between the hours of 7 a.m. and 11 p.m.
An alphabetical listing of roads where ATVs can legally travel is available online at www.greatersudbury.ca/atvstreets.
ATV operators may not exceed 20 km/hr on public roads where the speed limit is 50 km/hr or less and may not exceed 50 km/hr in areas where the speed limit is more than 50 km/hr.
Greater Sudbury Police will enforce the bylaw. ATV operators are expected to be familiar with provisions of bylaw, including vehicle speed, time of use and designated roads.
The bylaw that allows ATVs on public roads will expire on June 29, unless city council votes to extend it or make it permanent.
